The ultimate shoe. I cannot find a pair any where!

 Hey guys,

Alongside make up my major obsession is shoes. I have so many that I have no room for new ones! Not that it matters because I have fallen in love with this pair.

You may be wondering which designer these babies come from?

Choo? Blahnik? At least Topshop? No Tescos. Yes you read it right Tescos. Tescos' lace up platforms.£25. Bargain.

The problem is now word has got out I cannot find myself a pair. I can understand why because these are perfect for the christmas party season (as long as the snow goes away!)

I am off to try and source myself a pair. Tescos if you are reading this I'm a size 7.

New YT Video- Katy B 'Lights on'

Hey guys,

 I am OBSESSED with this song! It does help that she shares the same but I think she is amazing and this song has one of my other inspirations from the early 2000's Miss Dynamite. The video has three different looks -an eyeliner and bold lip, neutral brown and a black and gold smokey eye. This is the latter and the pic I used is below;

 The products I used were;
Eve Pearl HD foundation and concealer in Light
 Bad Gal eye liner
Bad gal palette from Sleek - Noir, Underground and Gunmetal
Naked palette from Urban decay - Baked and Virgin
Make up forever aqua smokey lash mascara
 Barbara Daly - Highlighter powder
 Mac's subculture lip liner
Maybelline colour sensational lip gloss in Cashmere rose

Hope this is informative and enjoyable!

 Big hugs

I am obsessed with new You Tube gurus!

Hey guys,

For a while I have not found any new inspiring Youtubers. I have always enjoyed youtube with the Pixiwoo sisters and Kandee Johnson being my go to gurus-I am always excited when I see one of their Vid's in my subs box! But lately i have not found anything new to shout about. for me my make up gurus have to have something unique.

But the following channels have really inspired me.

 www.youtube.com/user/sculptbeautytv

Uzma Yakoob and Sculpy beauty is a breath of fresh air. Her videos are based on looks I want to create and she uses products that I can buy easily and are good value for money. I love the way she edits the videos and makes them informative. I have even bought the Sculpt Beauty Iphone app which alerts me when they have a new video! Keep it up Uzma!

www.youtube.com/user/lisaeldridgedotcom

Those fans of ten Years younger will recognise Lisa as the resident Make up artist and know that she knows exactly what she is doing! She has crated my favourite look this year of Nicole Richie Marie Claire magazine cover and shares the secrets with us on her well presented channel. I am hooked and love her! I recently read a interview with Sam Chapman who states that when she has time she watches Lisa's videos. If that's not a major endorsement then I don't know what is!

www.youtube.com/user/makeupdesignory

A new one to me and it's an american school based in NYC. The instructors do things totally out of the box and is fab to see. Check out the Avant Garde baby doll look. I must admit if I ever go to NY again I will be stocking up on their products big time! I'm off to check out the rest of MUD's vids.....

Honorable mentions;

My time with Kandee

Hey guys,

A lot has happened since my day with Kandee J and the rest of her fab Glaministas in London. I went along to learn as much as I could from this fab lady that I have watched for the past two years of my life. I had done a lot of research into Glaminars and read various experiences - positive and the odd negative so I did not know what quite to expect.

At the risk of sounding trite I really found the day extraordinary! I learnt how to focus my mind to what I want from life and I am now striving to get it. I have remembered everyday to keep being the pink tree in the street!

I never thought that when i searched for 'wedding make up' for my big day in 2008 that I would now be running my own bridal make up business and aiming from the stars.

The sunday after the Glaminar I had a stand at a local bridal show in Bedford. It was my first one and I was so nervous but with Kandee's words in my mind I went along and secured four weddings and three potentials.

This is me at my stand!

On a more practical note the Glamiar taught me to market myself and my business and reach new markets for my work. I am also aware of contracts and what I have to think about when planning a bridal make up application. I have put these ideas into practice and i am reaping the rewards. So far I have booked jobs three times the value I paid for the Glaminar. Now i am sure that I had a hand in securing the bookings but I am sure without the Glaminar I would not have taken it to the next level.

Thank-you Kandee for coming to London and because of you I will always remember
'You were born unique and don't die a copy'

 Big hugs

Glaminar

Hey guys,
I am typing this whilst sitting waiting for Kandee's glaminar in Picadilly, London to start. There is a massive buzz in the place and cannot wait for the day to start. I am here all day for the am pro make up lesson and this afternoon for the make up bootcamp so I will have lots of learning to do!

The main issue was what make up to wear? Omg it was a massive decision as I had to put it on at 5 am to get to london in time! I settled for UD's sin in pp and shadow. Lovely!

I will post a face of the day pic later! My iPhone won't let me :-(

Big hugs guys!

Product rediscoverys

Everyday I look in my make up bag and decide my look for the day. Do I go for full on lashes? 60's inspired flick? Bright cheeks? Red lip? I love this question everyday and never tire of it. This means that in my early morning rummage I 'discover' new old prodcuts that I have either falen out of love with, replaced with the new best thing or I never really gave a try first time around. Today I rediscovered BOI-ING industrial strength concealer. This beats my other concealers that I tried since to see if they were better hands down. Yep thats ALL the Mac concealers, Revlon, rimmel, collection 2000 and bourjois! I know I will not be cheating on this fab concealer again!

I will post all my rediscoverys as soon as I discover them!
In the meantime let me know yours!

Kelly Rowland inspired make up look 'Commander'

This is my take on this look.

I used Mac face and body foundation,Studio sculpt concealer and stay matte powder on the face. For the eyes I used the Two Faced 'smokey eye' palette for the silver and the black. On the lashes I used max factor false lash effect and for the liner I used Macs fluidline in blacktrack. For the lips I used chromographic pencil and Bourjois 3d nude in Rose Mythic. I think that's it! Phew.... x

Stay tuned for more looks!
Big hugs

New product hype! Girl meets pearl by Benefit

My make up obsession started with Benefit. A little bottle of 'She laq' to be exact. I just adore the cute retro packaging and the products are wonderful. I love that the brand does not bring out a new product every week and concentrates on bringing out products that are worthy of their mid range to expensive price tag. Their stores are just awesome too! I was surfing the beauty community when I saw this little baby on my favourite site www.kissandmakeup.tv . I am super excited as I love Benefit's range of primers and highlighters and this is both. YAY! This is a goldy/pink highlighter and according to sources it is raspberry and camomile scented - oo'er! The packaging is the same as 'That Gal' primer.I will be trying it as soon as it's launched but unfortunately I can't seem to find out when. Hurry up Benefit!!

Big hugs

My favourite Make - up magazines

In my quest for make-up knowledge I came across two magazines that have been brilliant to read but both very different.

The first - Make Up International

This mag is just awesome. It has lots of articles by professional make up artists, company's and how to's. I especially like the step by step lessons on things such as airbrushing, contouring and blending. I have only managed to get it from Charles Fox in London, prices at around £5. It is so worth the price and the hunt to find a copy. You can get a subscription for about £60.

The second - Hair Flair and Beauty

This magazine is different as it is based on celeb hair and make up. With most beauty magazines I buy, I find there is a imbalance between hair and beauty. Don't get me wrong I am happy to read about hair techniques and products but I have shelled out the cash for make up and this mag does not disappoint. I mean who would not want to know whats inside the Sugarbabes make up bags? I got this mag from my local Co-Op so I am sure you could get it at all magazine retailers. It costs £2.99 which is quite reasonable. Grab a copy and enjoy!

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

  • Cosmo - You cant beat this classic however I feel they tend to stay in the high end camp.

  • Fabulous Magazine - This is the free mag that comes with the News of the world on a Sunday. It is a top source of beauty news and has load's of giveaways.

My Mission statement

 Hey guys,
Following a long period of sick (I have had a tooth abscess and terrible infection)  I have decided to refocus my blog , you tube channel and website and lay down my own personal mission statement. A statement of make up intent if you will!

When I created this blog and YT channel my main goal of 'Katie loves make up' was to open a little window into my world of Make-up love. I started off untrained but with massive enthusiasm and three years down the line I now create some amazing bridal looks and my portrait make up is going from strength to strength. I want to share with this you guys! My YT channel is a year old and I love posting celebrity inspired vids with Tulisa from Ndubz and Ellie Goulding being my main inspiration. This blog will be updated twice a week (at least) and my YT channel will be updated weekly (That's a massive commitment but it's so much bloomin' fun!)

The blog will consist of my little world of make up work, inspiration, videos, experiments, reviews, thoughts and views. I have a full time job and in my spare time I paint as many faces as possible and you will see every result -good or bad!

This blog is my creative outlet and for you lovely guys to peruse, comment and follow.

I can promise you guys regular posts with my unique views of this little world we love.

I just love it and must convince the hubby to let me have it! I will pair it with my distressed Calvin Klein denim jacket and white havianas. Ant thoughts on jewellery? Maybe a statement necklace?

If anyone knows of Maxi's I should look at I would love to know.

New video - Tulisa inspired make up look 'Let me be'

This is my inspiration:

As you guys know I love the looks that Tulisa sports and this one is no exception. It really suits her brown hair and the colours are awesome. I'm not too sure who the make up artist was but I like the shape he made with the browns. The products I used were Eve Pearl HD foundation in Light all over the face with a MAC 190 brush and Eve Pearl HD concealer in light over my bags and blemishes with a Sigma SS226 brush. This is great for blending in the concealer. To set the foundation and concealer I used MAC mineralized skinfinish natural in light medium with the fabulous ELF powder brush. To get rid of the powdery finish I used a spritz of
MAC fix+ as Tulisa's skin is luminous in this shot.I used MAC espresso eyeshadow on my brows with a  MAC 266 brush and tidied them up with a Cosmopolitan eyebrow brush. I then put brule eyeshadow all over my eye lid up to brow bone with a Sigma SS239 and I then used a MAC 239 for packing on the wedge on my eyelid and a MAC 213 for placing the espresso eyeshadow on the outer 3rd of the lid. I used a clean MAC 217 for blending out the eyeshadows to get a even finish. I then applied Urban decay 24/7 liner in zero to the top lash line and then a MAC 226 for blending it out. I then put on my fave mascara Collection 2000 big fake in black and then used a MAC 168 to apply MAC Pink swoon blush to the cheeks and up to the hairline. To finish I applied lady gaga viva glam lipstick which is a spot on dupe for thr colour in this pic. To add a bit of dimension I put a bit of clear gloss on the center of the lips and voila!

Enjoy!

In and out!

In.....
The start of summer. I'm not sure if it's something to do with the extra vit d  the sun is giving me but I am so much happier with the sunny days and cant wait to get the summer clothes out of hibernation.

Bourjois. In my opinion the best 'high street' make up brand. I am a new fan of Healthy skin foundation and i've used the 1001 lashes and volume clubbing mascaras. They are two of the best I have seen.

The election. Now don't get me wrong I am not a 'politics person' but I do not know who to vote for and I am actually listening to what they have to say and how it will benefit me, my husband and my future (fingers crossed!) children. I am still on the fence but I am listening carefully.
Out....
Dieting.
Turning 30.
Nuff said,do you??

Let me know yours, I love reading them!

Make up Hell!

I am about to describe my make up hell. Sit down and take a deep breath make up lovers.......

My pigments are all pressed and in a Mac pro palette and I was packing my pigments away after filming my Tulisa make up tutorial when the hell happened. The texture of the pigments means that you still have to be uber carefull with them. I tried to be but this happened.....

My favourite pigments on the floor and spilled in the palette. Great! These are the photos of my big rescue operation using a piece of paper to scoop the pigment onto (with the help of a make up brush!) and then tip back into the pan's.

I then put surgical spirit in and press it with a cotton covered 2p coin to press it solid and voila! Pigments back to normal and crisis averted!

I know that all you make up lovers will feel my shock at seeing my favourite 'all girl' pigment on the floor but I can report that they are in the palette where they belong!

Big hugs,
Katie

What's hot and what is not.....

Hot
  • Illmasqua liquid metal. This is the perfect base for the on trend metallics and I love the way it glides on the skin, dos not crease and dos not slip off. What more could a gal want eh?
  • Pressing pigments. I just adore the little samples from Starsmakeuphaven.com. They are just enough for you to press in a pan that fit's in the mac pro palette. The price of them is so reasonable that I was able to fill my palette for £40! Yay I love that! My favourite pigment by far is Pink Opal.
  • Make up by Risa. This gal's youtube channel rules. Her technique is amazing and has a lot of experience to share. Check her out!

Not

  • Maybelline Falsies mascara. I am a big fan of maybellines mascara normally (1001 lashes is still my fave!) but this new one is poor! It clumps around the whole lash and the brush is too flexible to coat the lashes properly. I know lots of the beauty bloggers love this but I would certainly not waste £8.00..................
  • Not having time for you tube. I did 31 looks in Jan and it burnt me out! Now I want to get back into the swing of things with my new Hd camera but work gets in the way! This weekend tho I promise!

Let me know yours guys-I love to read them!

IMATS 2010

Hey guys!

Today I went to Imats at Ally pally in London. I took Mr Katielovesmakeup and the plan was to see if the following products are available and to catch the Alex Byrne and Eve Pearl masterclasses. I really wanted the beauty so clean disinfectant spray and some make up international magazines but the main thing I wanted to see was the Mac Zuca make up trolley. I have been coveting this for months!! I was looking at getting it shipped in from the US as they were sold out in the Soho store So I was over the moon that they had one! Welcome home my new favourite thing!! Whilst I was at Mac I picked up rose eyeshadow and copper pigment which are lovely. I wandered around and picked up a few other bits (the mags, spray and some crown brushes, aofm book and wedding book) I then went to check out Eve Pearls stand and too my surprise Eve asked if I wanted a makeover . I jumped at the chance and I was with her for 1/2 hr but I missed Alex Byrne :-(. I had the best ever lesson! She is lovely and gave me some amazing pointers that I will use on my clients. I then went to her master class which was great and she made the model look amazing! I also had the pleasure of bumping into Sam and Nic Chapman. They are gorgeous! Top day and can't wait for next year!

Some pictures that inspired my 31 looks....

Hot or not? Jan '10

HOT

IMATS! I just cannot wait to go. I am taking Mr Katielovemakeup with me and I am planning to attend the masterclasses by Koren and Eve Pearl. I just cannot wait! The discount is exciting too!

Collection 2000 lasting perfection foundation. This is a new foundation that promises up to 16 hour wear. It's oil free , which is great for my oily skin and spf 20 which protects my skin. The colour I am using is the lightest which is vanilla. I have used it for the past 4 days and I LOVE IT! I apply it with my SS187 brush. A little gos a long way with the so one or two small pumps would suffice. It gives a nice dewy look to the skin. I still need to use concealer on my dark eye bags but for £3.50 you cannot do any thing but rave about it! I got mine from Tesco's.

NOT

Long January. I don't know about you but I always find January the most stressful time of the year. The long month between pay packets hurts, the weather is crap but I am making mine fly by with my 31 looks challenge!

Crap eye make up remover. I use a lot of waterproof mascara and stay put eyeliner which most eye make up removers don't budge. I use Macs easy off eye and lip remover but it's soooo expensive. Any cheap alternatives peeps???

Big hugs x x

RAINBOW EYES
Macs blackground paintpot on the base and then colours from the Sleeks 'original' palette. I lined the inner rim of my eye with Bourjois eyeliner metalise in turqouis. I used Barry m dazzle dust in translucent pink to highlight the brow bone and cheek bone.I then used Bourjois 1001 lashes mascara. For blush I used Macs cheeky bronze mineralized skin finish. To finish I used
Macs presciousness lip glass on my lips.

NATURAL FLUSHED CHEEKS
I used Rimmel stay matte foundation in ivory followed by Rimmel stay matte powder. I used macs moisturecover concealer to cover my blemishes. I used Rimmel sexy curves mascara and Benefits coralista blush on the cheeks. For the lips I used my old faithfull vaseline. To highlight the chhekbones i used eyekos brightning highlighter.
