Oxy natural skin science has been sent by angels to clear up problem skin.

Well it's a bit dramatic but that is what I think the marketing campaign for this range of products should be!

As you may be aware I have recently had my first baby. During pregnancy my skin went Ca-ray-zee and broke out everywhere. I had blackheads, white heads and the dreaded cystic spots. The kind that hurt, sting and stick around for weeks. It really got me down. I jumped at the chance to try the range of seaweed based products from Oxy. Oxy are well known for producing fab products in the war against spots but this range focuses on the natural, gentle yet effective use of the powerful seaweed essence. It has been clinically proven to reduce spot causing bacteria, redness and excess oil production. All things I needed in my life.

I tried the Seaweed power fresh skin wash first. I instantly liked this as it had a fresh scent and gel like texture which is great as I do not like runny watery washes! When I used it I noticed it had small beads of product which exfoliated my skin effectively. It did a great job of cleansing my skin and removing left over make up from my day. I used it twice to really get my skin clean, although you don't have too. The next step in the range is the Seaweed power deep calm balm (try saying that after a couple of vinos...) This was my favourite product of the range, a lovely silky textured balm. I have combo skin and this worked well on both my dry and oily bits (Oooo-er!). It soaked into my skin really quickly and my skin felt very smooth. This also did a great job as a make up base as well, ensuring that my foundation went on like a dream. This is always a worry when I try a new base product because it has to work well with make up. Win!

Once a week I used the Seaweed power deep pore exfoliant. It was quite gritty and it definitely shifted my dead skin cells revealing the smooth skin underneath. For when a spot reared it's ugly head I used the very effective emergency spot treatment gel. This promised to reduce the size and redness of a breakout in 4 hours. This product lived up to it claims and reduced a particularly bad cystic spot to nothing overnight. I really rate this product and it's hard to believe it is made from such a gentle formula. I used all the products exclusively for four weeks and I can say they are better than any spot fighting skin care I have tried in the past as I have seen dramatic improvement in my spots. I now have 80% less spots and the remaining ones look like they will be gone soon. I used the two main products together morning and night.

What I also love about this range is that it is bringing serious technology to the masses with it's innovative Oxy clearlight. I have not tried this gadget but can't wait to. Its a blue light therapy device which uses a wavelength to fight and prevent spots. This is a snip at £39.99 as a salon treatment like this would set you back hundreds! I'll keep you posted....

All of the products are alcohol, paraban and SLS free. This means that the skin is cared for making it suitable for sensitive skin. I love this gentle approach, a real first when it comes to spot fighting skincare. In the past I have used harsh chemical treatments and have often felt that they have eccacerbated the problem. Finally I have uncovered a gem of a product. The real problem is that I have started to run out.....

Prices range from £5.99 to £6.99 and are available at Superdrug either online and in store.

As my little man sleeps....

It has been so long I know.... On 6th February 2012 I had my son Robert AKA Bobby. I fell instantly in love with this little cutie and I have spent the last 11 weeks learning to be a mum. It's been tough, fabulous, rewarding and a complete change of focus which I have thoroughly embraced. I am now however ready to get some glam into my life! I have post coming up about how I have coped with the changes to my skin and the lack of time for my everyday make up routine. Getting ten mins is a luxury so I have chosen some quick products that work to give me a put together look quickly and that lasts. I have also started to lose the baby weight. I gained 2 1/2 stone during the pregnancy. I lost 1 1/2 stone in the first month by breastfeeding and eating well. I joined slimming world five weeks ago and I've lost half a stone. I have a bit of a way to go yet to get to my goal but I will also keep you updated on that journey too. I'd love to hear from you all about your speedy beauty products and keep checking back for new posts. Big hugs, Katie :-)

Where am I?

 Hey guys!

Sorry to have been absent from my blog and youtube channel for so long. Some of you may be aware that I am eight months pregnant with my first child. I've not had an easy run of it and the last thing I have felt like doing is sharing all things beauty with you when that is the opposite of how I have felt.

My skin has broken out, got oilier, got drier and generally kak. That said I have found some winder products that have suited me down to the ground. I do plan on sharing them with you as they will now be on my holy grail list!

Thank-you guys for checking back on my blog and being so loyal.

I'm sure you will be seeing posts from me real soon.

Beauty Marked oh how I love thee!

Yes I am in love with an eyeshadow. This is an eyeshadow from Mac called 'Beauty Marked'. I bought it after seeing it being used in a Pixiwoo video. It looked amazing paired with Twinks in the video but as it is a bit dark in the pan I avoided using it especially on brides. However I my bride this week the gorgeous Katie and her sister Kirsty gave me a dramatic purples and plums creative brief and I ran with it! I will share the pictures with you when I get them from the wedding photographer Ross Little www.rosslittlephotography.com.

Back to BM. MAC describes it as a 'deep blackened red with a sparkle/twilight effect', I do agree with this kind of. It is certainly a red-purple. It is a velvet finish and I have really grown to love it. For my bride and CB I used Urban Decay Primer Potion as the base and this added an awesome vibrant base.

This is close up swatch of the colour. It a very easy colour to blend and I plan to be using it in lots of looks coming up.

Let me know your favourite unexpected eyeshadow discovery?

 Big hugs

Just a play about

 Hey!

I have been very inspired by my new make up room that I have created at my new home. I have bought the same furniture from my last house with me but I have made it more personal and I love it! I have filmed a quick tour of the room which i am sure will be on my You Tube channel www.youtube.com/user/katielovesmakeup very soon!

I was sat clearing up all my make up on sunday and I found myself playing with the Wonder Woman palette I purchased in February. The palette I bought was the 'Lady justice' quad which I paid £36 for.  It has four colours (Obvs) and is blue in tone. The shadows are Lady Justice, Insurmountable, Bold Babe and Deep Truth

Lady Justice is a silvery, frost finish, limited edition shade. I used this one on the brow bone, along the bottom lashes and inner corner to highlight. I like this colour as it is sheer and it blends very well indeed.

I used Bold babe on the middle third of my eyelid and also underneath the eye. This colour is a steel blue colour. It has a silver sheen and it is also a limited edition shade. this is my favourite. It's very flattering and worth the purchase on it's own. It blends well with the other colours and is a great compliment to my brown eyes.

I then used the only permanent shade in the quad 'Deep truth' in the outer v. This is a deep navy with a frosted finish. I like the frosts and this one is also pretty awesome. This really added depth and is highly pigmented so a little went a long way!

I lined my top lashes with a flick using L'oreal super liner in Black. To add something extra I ran Avon super shock gel liner in silver across the top of this flick. These products get top marks for adding awesome colour payoff to a look! I used L'oreal volume million lashes mascara and used a pair of false eyelashes (Can't remember which ones now!). I used MAC's 'Pink Swoon' blusher on the cheeks and MAC'S 'Preppy' lip gellee on the top. This one was from the Lily Pulitzer collection but it's the first time I've used it!

I hope you like it and excuse the pout! Let me know your 'Just playing around' look?

 Big hugs
 Katie
