Hot or not

This is my latest hot or not list for nov/dec 09. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hot
Macs barouque boudoir collection . I noticed quite late that this collection was on the Mac web site. I managed to pick up the sheer mystery powder compact and the preciousness lipglass which I adore. The brush on the lipglass is so much nicer than the doe foot application but the best thing about it is the packaging. It is so similar to my video back ground. I love, love, love it!

Advent calenders-Just enough chocolate to get my fix! I am dieting at the mo' so this is my sweet hit for the day.

Red shampoo and conditioner. I love being a red head but because it is coloured I am determined to make sure it's in top condition. This pair means that it makes it soft and most importanty healthy and shiny.

Not
Queueing. I despise queing for anything! It seems that every cash point has a queue and it always seems to be when I need it most!

Cold weather. 'nuff said!

Product rave video!

Hey guys!
I featured the Mac liquid last eyeliners on my hot or not post not so long ago but I have seriously been loving them so much! They are so simple to use and stay put! To remove them use Macs gently off eye and lip make up remover and it will come off like a dream.

Have a go as I assure you they will be one of your new loves!

Thank-you Lauren!

It's not every day that the queen of You tube tutorials put's one of your vids on her website! Woo hoo!
www.bylaurenluke.com/favouritesarchive.aspx

In preparation for my wedding in July '08 I searched the internet for wedding make up inspiration. I found LL's videos and I was hooked! I love her sense of normality and fun which makes watching her a joy. I felt another affiliation with her as I too have a snoring pug dog! When she bought out her make up range then I bought them as soon as I could. I just love the greens and made a video about them when I started my channel which I would never have done without her.

Thanks so much Lauren, you have really inspired me to make the best of myself.
Big hugs.

Leona Lewis Make up tutorial

Hey peeps!
I have posted a new video today and it is based on the look that Leona Lewis wore when she performed her new single 'Happy' on the X factor last saturday. It's a really clean crisp look with the emphasis on the eyelid and I used the 'sello tape' trick to get a sharpe line without much effort at all! I used bad gal waterproof eyeliner to create the shape and Blackground paint pot over the top. To set it matte I used Mac's carbon on a 239 brush and patted it obver the top. I then used Bourjois mascara in 1001 lashes and their rose mythic 3d lip gloss on the lips. I could not see to much blush on the cheeks so I used a little dusting of Macs beauty powder in pretty baby from the Hello kitty colection. I like this look as it is different from most looks out there and has a kind of 60's feel which I love.

Let me know what you think?

New video! A make up look inspired by Hayley Williams

I have today posted a new video which I filmed in the week. Unfortunately I posted it late as my dog got attacked so things have been dramatic round here to say the least! It is inspired by the make up Hayley Williams wore in her band Paramores video 'Crushcrushcrush' (Above) . It is a blue eyelinered look which suits all eye colours. To get this look I used Rimell Stay Matte foundation and Mac's select cover up (nw20) for the base. UDPP on the eye followed by the light blue eyeshadow from Sleek make up's Divine eyshadow in Acid then the sleek ink pot in denim. This line is then defined by the darker lue in the pallette followed by lashings of Benefits Bad gal mascara in blue. I used a creme de nude on the lips which I love!

Have a go and try it out!

Tulisa 'I need you' video look

This is my take on the look Tulisa wore in Ndubz new video 'I need you'. It's a fantastic 40's inspired look with a modern twist. I used Rimmel 1000 kisses lip pencil and lipstick in red for the lips and 'woodwinked' eyeshadow blended in the crease over a 'brulee' eyeshadow base for the eyes. This look has dramatic eyelashes so I layered up on the MAC mascara X and then put on 2true lashes. I love this look and with a little practise I can put these lashes on with ease. Have a go at recreating this look and let me know your thoughts.

The style black collection

I was not sure about the SB collection. I was not too fussed from the swatches on temptalia and here in the Uk we are behind in collections so I did not race to my local MAC on the day of release like some other collections recently....

However, I did pop in to the Cambridge branch to have a peek. I LOVE IT!

I bought three of the four mineralized eyshadows. I bought cinderfella, gilt by association and . They are great. I have used them dry or wet, on a base or on it's own and they have been fab. I have found that using my UDPP and fix + on top seals it in. I use them with a little carbon in the outer v for definition. I also bought the 'holy grail' Volcanic ash exfoliator which I have used a few times.... not too sure if I am ready to ditch my St Ives apricot exfoliator but I will let you know.

I am off to London with the hubby tomorrow so maybe I will add to my collection. Stay tuned peeps...

Pixie Lott 'Boys and girls' music video inspired make up video

Hey guys!

I have posted a new video tutorial based on this look. It is an awesome dramatic look concentrating on emphasizing the eye.
To get this look I used Rimmel recover foundation, Macs studio sculpt concealer in NW20, Primark brow gel, Mac's blackground paint pot, Urban decay 24/7 eyeliner in zero and Macs mineralized eyeshadow in cinderfella from the style black collection. I used Rimmel sexy curves mascara with 2true flase eyelashes to get a dramatic eye. For the lips I used ambre rose maybelline colour sensational lipstick and on the cheeks I used Maybelline colour mouse in pink.
This is a great look that is great on light skintone and blonde hair. Keep the lips nude to focus on the eyes. Let me know what you think!

My latest video. A make up look inspired by Cheryl Coles video 'Fight for this love'

My inspiration

This video shows my take on one of the looks that Cheryl Cole wears in her 'Fight for this love' video. This still is what inspired me. It is very dramatic in the video but I have toned it down for wearability. I love the black eye shadow blended across the eye socket and into the nose bridge. Very unique and great for adding definition to the face.

I used the following products to create this look:

Mac Studio sculpt foundation NW20

Mac Studio sculpt concealer NW20

Mac Mineralized skinfinish

Urban decay primer potion

Mac Skintone 1 eye shadow (Notoriety quad)

Mac Earthy tones eye shadow (Notoriety quad)

Mac Woodwinked eye shadow

Mac Carbon eye shadow

Barbara Daly eye khol in Black

Mac fluid line in Blacktrack

Rimmel sexy curves mascara

Mac mineralized skinfinish in Cheeky bronze

Bourjois 3D effect lip gloss in Rose Mythic

She wears it much more dramatic. If this is your cuppa' tea then add some falsies and extra thick eyeliner. Have fun guys!

Hot and Not - September '09

Hey guys,

Just a little post with my Hot and Not list. This details whats in and out in my life.

Hot!

Bourjois Metalize eye khol pencils. These are AMAZING! Long lasting and in awesome colours. I have a turqoise which I use to line my waterline when I wear my 'boring work makeup'. It really adds something to the look. The best thing is no eye bogeys or panda eyes. Top, top product!

Maybelline Coloursensational Ambre Rose lip stick. This lippy is getting a lot of coverage in blog land and I can see why. A fab rosey pink which glides on the lips. It suits my pale skintone and not many pinks do! And the price tag is very attractive....

Palmers cocoa butter with olive oil body butter. This version of the old cocoa butter is just as good. Very soothing and my skin feels moisturised all day.

Saturday night tv. Strictly come dancing, X factor and now the cult 'Hole in the wall'. All I need is Total wipeout and my saturday nights are complete! Lol

Not?

Bourjois Effet 3D Max lip gloss. Now I am a 'glass half full' kinda girl and don't like to hate something. While the lip gloss is fab (I have a lovely plummy red) the applicator is awful. It is a small teardrop plastic applicator with 'wells' to store the gloss. It does not work! You cannot reapply a second coat because the plastic applicator removes the first coat-RRRRRrrrrrrr! I refuse to use it now and I apply with a lip brush.

Spots, zits, blemishes, pimples whatever you wish to call them. I HATE them! I am prone to a breakout around my 'monthlys'. Tea tree oil is my saviour combined with clean and clear oil free moisturiser. Failing that tootpaste over night. It works!

Let me know your 'Ins' and 'outs'..

Big hugs xx

New video! Tulisa look from the Ouch video

This is a fab look with a real grey lid colour and framed black lined eyes. I prepared my skin using the Mac studio sculpt foundation in nw20. Benefits erase paste in 02 to cover my (many!) pimples and set with Mac's mineralized skin finish in natural light. I primed my eyes with Urban decay primer potion to ensure the shadow did not crease. I used the artistik palette (from ebay) for the main colours. I used the slate grey in the socket and up just past the socket line in a rounded shape. I then used a mac 217 brush with a little nude shadow to blend out the edges . I then used a black eyeliner (Barbara Daly for Tesco in 01 Black) to line the upper and lower lash lines. I then used a cotton bud to smudge the line and I repeated it to make sure it was visible. I then used a mac 226 brush to place some 'Carbon' eyeshadow to set the liner. To highlight the inner corner of my eye I used a pencil brush to place in a 'L' shape aroung my tear duct. I then placed a matt white from the palette under the brow bone and I blended them all together with a Mac 217. I used Macs 'Don't be shy' hot pink blusher from the Barbie loves mac collection but any hot pink will do on the apples of my cheeks and then back towards the hair line. I then used Colour crafted lipstick with a little 'starlet kiss' gloss. This gloss is from the Heatherette collection and was limited edition. Mac if you read this repromote this!! Hope you enjoy and keep checking back for more.

My daily foundation routine

I have just done a quick video to show you what I do every morning when I get ready for my day ahead. I used Mac's select cover up to even the skin tone around my nose and mouth. I applied this with my Mac 190 foundation brush. I then used boi-ing industrial strength concealer in 02 to my under eye area with my ring finger. I set the lot off with Mac mineralized skin finish swirled and buffed on using a Mac kabuki 182 brush. It's a simple routine that is quite natural and long lasting. I hope you enjoy!

Check out my new video! It is based on Tulisa's make up look from there 'Strong again' video. It a great look using the petrol blue and black shadows from the Sleek make up 'Acid' palette. I used urban decay primer potion and a black base, sharkskin shadestick from Mac to make to blue more vibrant. I then lined the lower waterline and applied two coats of Rimmel sexy curves mascara. On the cheeks I used macs sculpt and shape in bone beige and emphasize on my cheeks and colour crafted lipstick with a little clear gloss on the top.

Bronzed babe look

This look I have created is from the Balm palette 'Shady lady'. It is quick, simple and inexpensive. I used Mac studio sculpt foundation and concealer to prepare my face. I used urban decay primer potion to prime my eye lids for the shadow. I used a Mac 275 brush to apply the three colours - Lucious lani (a shimmery champagne colour) which I put over my whole eye lid up to the brow bone and then shameless shana (a matt medium brown) from the outer edge of the crease up to my brow bone and half way along my lid and then Caught in the act courtney (a dark glittery brown) in the outer 'v' to define the eye shape. This is very flattering and must be blended with the other colours to look good. I then used a mac 266 eyeliner brush dampened and dipped into Caught in the act courtney. I then lined the outer thrd of my upper and lower lash line. I then smudged this line to ensure it was not too harsh.I then applied two coats of Rimmels sexy curves mascara in black. The one I used was waterproof. I then put warmth on my cheeks with Mac mineralized skinfinish in Cheeky bronze. I used the Mac kabuki to apply this in a 3 shape from the forehead to the cheekbnone then to the chin. This slims down the face too. I then applied Mac lipglass in viva glam 5. A pretty wearbale brown look. Hope you enjoy!

Lucious greens look

This is my latest look. I have used Lauren Luke's luscious green palette. I just love this palette-the colours are gorgeous and have a fantastic pay-off. They are about £24 and have everything to make your look-primer,eyeliner,blush,two lip colours and three fab eye shadows- a lid colour, medium and a dark green crease colour. I used Macs studio sculpt foundation in nw20 and benefits boi-ing concealer on my blemishes. I primed my eye with Urban decay primer potion to give the eye shadows a lot more staying power. I put the light lid colour golden morning all over my lid with a round flat eyeshadow brush. I then used the medium colour, golden fern , sweeping it across my brow bone. I then used macs pencil brush to drag the crease colour ever green along the socket line. This was lightly blended together. I used a white powder under the brow to highlight and I coated my lashes with Sleek waterproof mascara. I then used Barbara Daley's make up range for tescos eyeliner in Kingfisher on the waterline. I then used my benefit Hoola bronzer under my cheek bone to contour then I used the palettes blush 'Sun kissed' just on the apples of my cheeks. I then finished with petal dew on my lips. Overall this palette is great quality and value. I will be checking out Laurens other palettes. Keep checking back for more looks!

My first post! Todays beauty buy's!

Hey guys!

This is my first post. I have just got back from the local town were I went into Superdrug. I had seen on pixiwoo's you tube channel that Samantha Chapman had raved about a Sleek make up pallette in 'Storm' so I thought I would check it out for you guys. There are twelve mineral eyeshadows in this palette for £4.49. I could not belive the price! I swatched the tester in the shop and the colours were really pimented and looked awesome. The colours in the pallette include shades of beige, brown, golds, greens and blues. The packagin in super cute too. It has a 'sleek' black case and a large mirror inside the case. What I love about these shadows is that theycan be layered up to create drama. If you want a cute neutral wash of colour for the day you can just sweep the colours over your eye but for something a little more dramatic you can pack the colour on. The deep gold colour (top left) and the navy blue (bottom third from right) are perfect for the crease.

I also picked up Sleeks ink pot in Denim. Another bargain at £4.00! This is a medium blue colour which is stunning! It's in a glass pot like MACS fluidline. I have not tried it yet but I will let you know what I think. You guys will see that I am a sucker for packaging-this comes with a cute little liner brush! Not sure if I would apply it with that-I will probably stick to my Benefit angled brush but it's nice for a handbag spare

Hope you've enjoyed reading it x
