Beauty Marked oh how I love thee!

Yes I am in love with an eyeshadow. This is an eyeshadow from Mac called 'Beauty Marked'. I bought it after seeing it being used in a Pixiwoo video. It looked amazing paired with Twinks in the video but as it is a bit dark in the pan I avoided using it especially on brides. However I my bride this week the gorgeous Katie and her sister Kirsty gave me a dramatic purples and plums creative brief and I ran with it! I will share the pictures with you when I get them from the wedding photographer Ross Little www.rosslittlephotography.com.

Back to BM. MAC describes it as a 'deep blackened red with a sparkle/twilight effect', I do agree with this kind of. It is certainly a red-purple. It is a velvet finish and I have really grown to love it. For my bride and CB I used Urban Decay Primer Potion as the base and this added an awesome vibrant base.

This is close up swatch of the colour. It a very easy colour to blend and I plan to be using it in lots of looks coming up.

Let me know your favourite unexpected eyeshadow discovery?

 Big hugs

Special announcement!

 Hey guys!

I have a special video announcement today. I have collaborated with the A-may-zing Emily from Emily Jessica B TV on You Tube. I've been following her videos for a while now and we we're chatting on Twitter and Facebook and Emily suggested a collab video. We both love Jessie J and her key MUA Andrew Gallimore,so we decided to reacreate one of his looks. Andrew is a fab make up artist and can knock out the most amazing editorial and beauty shots you have ever seen. If you appreciate the art of make up check out his portfolio here

We each chose a look of his to recreate. This is the look Emily chose. Lush eh? Here is Emily's video

And here is mine. I love the light eyebrows and harsh liner complemented with the smokey yellow and black. Awesome!

I used Eve Pearl HD foundation and concealer in light, Elf HD powder, MAC's blacktrack fluidline gel eyeliner, Urban Decau eyeliner in Zero, The black, champagne and yellow for the Sleek curious palette,Max factor false lash effect mascara in black,Dermablend concealer in D12,MAC's Harmony blush and vaseline lip salve.

Just a play about

 Hey!

I have been very inspired by my new make up room that I have created at my new home. I have bought the same furniture from my last house with me but I have made it more personal and I love it! I have filmed a quick tour of the room which i am sure will be on my You Tube channel www.youtube.com/user/katielovesmakeup very soon!

I was sat clearing up all my make up on sunday and I found myself playing with the Wonder Woman palette I purchased in February. The palette I bought was the 'Lady justice' quad which I paid £36 for.  It has four colours (Obvs) and is blue in tone. The shadows are Lady Justice, Insurmountable, Bold Babe and Deep Truth

Lady Justice is a silvery, frost finish, limited edition shade. I used this one on the brow bone, along the bottom lashes and inner corner to highlight. I like this colour as it is sheer and it blends very well indeed.

I used Bold babe on the middle third of my eyelid and also underneath the eye. This colour is a steel blue colour. It has a silver sheen and it is also a limited edition shade. this is my favourite. It's very flattering and worth the purchase on it's own. It blends well with the other colours and is a great compliment to my brown eyes.

I then used the only permanent shade in the quad 'Deep truth' in the outer v. This is a deep navy with a frosted finish. I like the frosts and this one is also pretty awesome. This really added depth and is highly pigmented so a little went a long way!

I lined my top lashes with a flick using L'oreal super liner in Black. To add something extra I ran Avon super shock gel liner in silver across the top of this flick. These products get top marks for adding awesome colour payoff to a look! I used L'oreal volume million lashes mascara and used a pair of false eyelashes (Can't remember which ones now!). I used MAC's 'Pink Swoon' blusher on the cheeks and MAC'S 'Preppy' lip gellee on the top. This one was from the Lily Pulitzer collection but it's the first time I've used it!

I hope you like it and excuse the pout! Let me know your 'Just playing around' look?

 Big hugs

My beloved iPhone

Hey guys!

One of the things you may not know about me is I am addicted to my iPhone 4. This was recently confirmed by three weeks without it due to a silly water accident. It appears that my beloved iPhone is sensitive to a bit of water! So I gave decided to tell you a bit about what I love about it weekly! In fact I am typing this from
It. This weeks favourite app is 'Get running' It's a couch to 5k app. I have always loved the idea of being a runner so I have tried a couple recently and this is the better one as it works outdoors and on the treadmill and allows music to play with audio commands over the top. Brill! It was about £1.30 I think! Go search for it! My favourite iTunes tune is 'Bang, bang, bang' by Mark Ronson. It's good for running and is totally unique. 99p from iTunes. Best game by far is 'Angry birds rio' Addictive and very likely to get you the sack if you play it at work! You can get a free version in your app store.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to let me know your favourite apps and songs in the comments!

Big hugs,
Katie

Natural, defined eye make up tutorial

 Hey!

While I love my dramatic eye make up tutorials and I regularly wear a red lip (Viva Glam Cyndi if you are wondering!) I however love natural defined eye make up for when something more demure is needed. I use this look when I want to appear natural and beautiful.

This tutorial is using my favourite high street eyeshadow product the 'Smoky Eye' palette from Bourjois. They have three colours in the palette-light,medium and dark and come in nine colour combinations. These include greys and purples as well as the brown and black. When I got mine from Superdrug and they were priced at £7.99.  I did a quick smoky eye tutorial back in January which is here using the black version. This video for some one special and I hope they and you enjoy. Click here to view.

 These are the products I used;
NARS sheer glow foundation in Deauville
 Dermacolour concealer in D66
Bourjois Smoky eyes palette in 04 Nude ingenu
Maybelline eyestudio long lasting drama gel eyeliner in 01 Black
Bourjois La creme des Levres in 03 Rose doux
Accessorize merged Blusher in 3 Pretty Pink
Bourjois Delice de poudre bronzer in 52
L'oreal volume million lashes mascara in Black

I used a lot of Bourjois didn't I!

Hope you enjoy and I'd love to know what are your favourite products from Bourjois are in the comments box below!

My Jessie J 'Nobodys Perfect' Make up tutorial

Hey guys,

 Long time no blogging!

You guys who know me I love Jessie J. I could not contain my excitement when I saw her new music video pop up in my subscription box. The song itself is my favourite from the album, full of angst about making a mistake that hurts someone you love. We have all been there and this song sums up the feelings perfectly. The album 'Who you are' is a great listen and I also love the song 'Abracadabra'. The make up in this video is completed by Andrew Gallimore who has been the key make up artist on all of Jessie's video since 'Do it like a dude'. He is a chameleon make up artist who rocks the beauty shots as well as male make up and editorial. His portfolio can be found here Jessie is also known to do some of her make up herself and she has such a strong sense of style so I am sure she will have had a say in the make up brief!

 I gave the red lip look above a go using the following products;

Chanel Prolumiere foundation in 10
Derma colour concealer D66
MAC Rubenesque paint pot
MAC Carbon eyeshadow
Urban Decay 'Jabbawocky' from the Alice in Wonderland Palette. It is just re re-named for the palette. True name 'oil slick'
MAC Vintage gold pigment
Urban Decay 24/7 pencil in 'Zero'
Max Factor false lash effect mascara in black
MAC Redd lip liner
MAC kissable lip colour 'Strut your stuff'

I do not have Jessie J's confidence to pull the same look!

Hope you enjoy!

 Big hugs
